RARE - WILD - THRIVING - One of the LAST PURE STRAIN rainbow trout NATIVE to California live here!

In this video, I'm fly fishing for one of the last pure strain's of rainbow trout native to California. Rumor is a train carrying the McCloud strain of rainbow trout found in northern California, broke down near this stream over 100 years ago. Rather than let them die they released them. What happened next is amazing, these rainbow's were able to self sustain and created this super special fishery that is catch and release only. Since they weren't a product of traditional stocking techniques the idea is they are genetically pure! I'd love to see it become a fly only stream to truly protect this incredible resource. But as you can see they are doing great and offer a really fun challenge. But be aware, this stream is known for its difficult fishing conditions.
