Voice teachers—this is one of those moments where ignoring what’s coming out of the research is going to cost you later.

A 2025 study out of Penn State University is adding to what we’re already seeing clinically: inner ear (vestibular) dysfunction is tied to anxiety and depression. And if you teach singers, you’re already working with people who live in that loop.

The voice student who can’t settle. Sways. The one who overcorrects. The one who sounds great in the room and then everything falls apart under pressure.

That’s not just technique. That’s the brain trying to organize itself with shaky input and too many threats.

This kind of training takes time to actually understand and use well. You can do this and use what you already teach brilliantly in the studio.

We’re movement professionals. We can assess what’s in front of us, change input, and get real information right away—without stepping outside our lane or pretending to be medical providers.
