Inkscape Envelope Deformation

Using Inkscape’s Envelope Deformation path effect, you can transform standard fonts into Text images like this whale. I this step by step tutorial, I show you how to use the envelope deformation tool to wrap text to the shape of an image. I show you how to clean up edges and how to do fine adjustments to perfect your design.

To use the envelope deformation tool on text, you first need to convert your text to a path using the Object to Path function. You can then add a path effect to warp your text to the desired shape. If the shape is complex then I advise you make finishing corrections with the Nodes Tool. You can then use the Intersection path function to trim your text to the perfect shape.
