News Article :-
More than 100 children fell ill after consuming a school lunch where a dead snake was found in the food.

India's National Human Rights Commission is investigating the incident.
A cook at a school in Mokama, Bihar, in eastern India, is accused of serving the food despite removing the dead snake from it. The kind of snake has not yet been identified.
After children began falling sick, locals were outraged and blocked a road to protest the incident.
"The commission has observed that the contents, if true, raise a serious issue of violation of the human rights of the students," the NHRC said in a statement.

They demanded a "detailed report" within two weeks from the state officials, including the "health status of the children."
The school lunch served to the children is part of the Mid-Day Meal scheme, free school meals for children from underprivileged backgrounds.

The Mid-Day Meal scheme was first introduced in Chennai in 1925 and is one of the biggest free school lunch schemes in the world.
This is not the first chool food-related complaint.

In 2013 in a separate incident, 23 schoolchildren died in the state of Bihar due to tainted food.

Officials had detected "very toxic" levels of pesticides in the food after conducting lab tests.
