1 Hour At Beirut’s MEA Cedar Business Class Lounge

Lebanese hospitality at Beirut Airport.

The MEA Middle East Airlines Cedar Business Class Lounge at Rafik Hariri International Airport is one of the most spacious airport lounges I’ve ever visited.

What makes it truly unique is the iconic open-air courtyard — a mini forest with real trees that floods the lounge with natural light. All around, you’ll find authentic archaeological artifacts showcasing Lebanon’s history, from ancient mosaics to Corinthian capitals and marble statues. It feels more like a cultural gallery than an airport lounge, and I’ve never seen anything quite like it anywhere else.

Add in panoramic runway views and beautiful lighting, and the vibe is pure Beirut. That said, the buffet food was underwhelming — very limited options that don’t live up to the rich Lebanese culinary reputation. I was also disappointed by the lack of showers, especially for long-haul travelers, and the spa was out of service during my visit.

Still, the lounge was calm, uncrowded, and unmistakably Lebanese in spirit — a blend of heritage, nature, and modern design.
