REVIEW NOTES:
6/14: After putting up this review, @darkelipse04 pointed out issues raised in the recent Digital Trends review:
- No noise during bright scenes
- In SDR mode (Standard vs Theater modes) Standard pushes warm, which is different as I expected it to be cooler in Standard. As mentioned previously and consistent with Caleb's observation, H8G definitely pushes magenta out of the box in Theater mode (HDR or SDR), but Standard mode is just too warm and oversaturated - Theater mode is definitely more accurate.
- HDR Theater is definitely more accurate than any other HDR mode, and more pleasing to the eye. You can improve black level contrast a little with the "Enhanced Viewing Angle" but leave Active Contrast off as it reduces contrast (ironically) by lifting black levels to improve color volume and raise panel brightness. Active Contrast is good for bright rooms where you need that extra luminance boost.
