Abbott is many things however ‘homophobic and misogynistic are not among them’

Sky News host Peta Credlin says former prime minister Tony Abbott is many things, however homophobic and misogynistic are not among them.

Mr Abbott has recently been the target of serious criticism after he was appointed to the UK’s Board of Trade, with Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon saying he was “not appropriate” for the position.

“My former boss is many things, but homophobic and misogynistic, well they’re not among them,” Ms Credlin said.

“The readiness of politicians to heap political scorn on people for faults they don’t have ... I reckon it’s one of the reasons most voters find politics repellent.

“Over the twenty-five years he was in the Federal Parliament he only ever had female chiefs of staff.”

Christine Forster, Mr Abbott's sister own sister who came out as gay said “it is nothing short of dishonesty for politicians who do not know Tony to label him a “homophobe and a misogynist”.

“As a woman who has always been part of his life & who came out to him as gay in my early 40’s, I know incontrovertibly that Tony is neither of those things.”
