TOWN'S MYSTERY HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER EXPOSED AS A LEAKING FUEL LINE 🐦⛽😂

For eleven years, a ruby-throated hummingbird colony thrived around a PVC pipe sticking out of the ground behind a Texaco station in Breckinridge, Kentucky. Locals assumed someone buried a feeder. Birdwatchers drove hours to see it. A state fuel inspector finally tested the drip in 2019. The pipe was leaking a ethanol-gasoline blend — E15 — at roughly two tablespoons per hour. The sugar content in the ethanol attracted the birds. Texaco owed $41,000 in fuel loss. The colony had consumed approximately 1,100 gallons of gasoline. The hummingbirds were fine. The birdwatchers were furious.
