Hi everyone, here is a part.2 of my #bulimia story. In this video, I share 5 major advices for those struggling with binge eating or bulimia.

🌴Advice 1. Fix the cause
I started getting better when I understood 'why' I had a binge cycle. For me, the cause was low perception of self worth. I started working on the cause, rather than trying to stop binge eating for the sake of it. That is when things changed :)

🎀Advice 2. Stop dieting
Think about how you want to live your life. Why are you dieting? Who are you trying to please? Is that a life you want to live?
When I answered these questions for myself, it was clear to me that I want to spend my life sharing meaningful moments rather than being preoccupied how I look. I'm not perfect now, but I stopped dieting and it has never felt better. I eat nutritiously and up to satiety.

🍰 Advice 3. Avoid your triggers
I said I stopped dieting which helped me to get better, but refined sugar was an EXCEPTION. Refined sugars can be addictive when taken excessively (and I certainly was addicted because I binged on cookies and ice cream). Best way is to go COLD TURKEY on refined sugars if you are addicted like I was. I tried having 'one' chocolate, and it never worked for me. Once you stop the binge cycle, we can then work on to reintroduce the refined sugars back into the diet carefully. Now, I indulge in whatever cake I want once in a while.

🎉Advice 4. Celebrate every step
This is just a blueprint to that you are recovering in a positively driven way. Celebrate every single progress you made. Celebrate one meal you had without binge eating. Give yourself credit, a nice pat on the back. You are your biggest supporter in this journey.

🙏Advice 5. Be patient
This cannot be 'fixed' overnight, or in a week. It takes time as we are trying to 'rewire' how we think. Of course, the more positive thought processes you enforce, the rewiring will move quicker. But still, we have set backs now and then. You may have your first binge when you haven't had one in 5 months, and you may panic in concern that you are falling back into your old habits. But trust me, you are going to be ok. I slipped back multiple times, and I was terrified. But low and behold, you will stand up stronger, with more wisdom for the next challenge.

This is no easy journey. Having an eating disorder is difficult, draining and feels like a never ending torture in a prison. But, you will realise that the prison's door is not locked. It's up to you to open that door and start making the efforts to change the habits you have now. If you don't change your mind, your behaviours will also not change. Work on your self confidence, self love and acceptance. During this journey, I would be honoured to offer the help and advices I can give you. Stay strong and let me know what your thoughts are.

Thank you for sharing your incredibly valuable time here with me today.
