My Favorite Coyote Hunting Calibers (2019)

Coyote hunting is an exhilarating hunting experience that anyone can do! It's easy to get started and you can even make a few bucks doing it. The biggest question when it comes to coyote hunting is "what rifle should I use?"

Short answer. Any rifle is a good coyote rifle but there are a few that outshine all the others.

My personal favorite is a 22-250 this is probably one of the most famous varmint rounds in the world and for good reason. This round flys fast, hits like a freight train, and is pretty cheap to shoot.

Next is the 223. The 223 is a very popular round for coyote hunting because it can be used in the AR platform and it is super cheap to shoot and is available in a lot of different grains.

Finally is the new gun to my list. The 6.5 Creedmoore (aka 6.5 Needmore). This is a suprise to me but it makes sense. The 6.5 is a flat flying round that packs a punch. It is available in multiple different grains of ammo which is great because you can find a smaller round for coyotes and a larger round for deer and elk sized game.
