Bangladesh remains on edge as Dhaka faces mounting scrutiny over minority safety following the brutal lynching of a Hindu man in Mymensingh. Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on December 22 launched a scathing attack on the Yunus-led interim government, accusing it of emboldening extremist elements, dismantling law and order, and pushing the country towards diplomatic isolation. Speaking from exile in India, Hasina alleged that convicted extremists have been elevated to positions of power while violence against minorities, media, and diplomatic missions goes unchecked. India, meanwhile, has rejected what it called misleading reports from Bangladeshi media over a protest outside Dhaka’s High Commission in New Delhi, reiterating concern over attacks on minorities and urging accountability, restraint, and adherence to international norms.
