Help #FreeToomaj
Well-known Iranian rapper and hip-hop artist Toomaj Salehi has been in detention for nearly a year in connection with his music and posts on social media denouncing the unjust practices of the Iranian government.
Salehi was a very vocal supporter of the protests that broke out in Iran after the death in custody of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini last year. Through his music he has called for freedom and an end to repression.
He has been reportedly tortured and kept in prolonged solitary confinement. According to his Twitter account, he was severely beaten despite fears that he could lose his eyesight.
This July he was convicted of "corruption on earth" and sentenced to more than six years in prison. A ban on his music has been put on him for an additional two years. Join us to demand Toomaj Salehi's release — send your letter to the Iranian Supreme Leader using our letter-writing tool today.
