WHAT DID KATHERINE HOWARD LOOK LIKE? Queen Katherine Howard’s face has been the subject of debate for centuries. She caused a Tudor scandal when she was accused on cheating on Henry VIII and as a result, she was executed at the Tower of London in 1541, then buried next to her cousin, Anne Boleyn, in the Chapel of St Peter Ad Vincula. Thanks to this and to her youth and short tenure as Queen, there are no definitive portraits of her, however in this Tudors documentary from History Calling I’ll show you the images supposedly of her and discuss which one historians feel is most likely to be Katherine based on a discussion of her royal jewels and on what those who saw her thought of her appearance. The video will also look at why Katherine Howard was executed, what happened to a Queen's jewellery when she was no longer queen and at what was found when Katherine Howard's grave was disturbed during the Victorian era.
