Baron Ungern-Sternberg (Biography - A World Chronicles Documentary)

Baron Roman von Ungern-Sternberg was a Baltic German noble, a monarchist and a fierce anti-Communist who arose to prominence in the forces opposing the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War when he wrested control of the Mongolian capital of Urga from occupying Chinese forces. During Ungern's endeavors he gained notoriety for his uncompromising brutality towards both his enemies and his own men. He also stood out from his other reactionary peers due to his distinctive appearance, grandiose geopolitical ambitions and eclectic religious beliefs, which fused Western religions with Buddhism and other mysticisms.
