Old Rusty Stove Restoration | Mister Patina
In this Video I took care about this old stove. I bought it online from a private guy for under 10$. When I received it, I saw in which rusty and tarnished condition it was, so I had to restore it! I started with disassembling this stove, where I found broken sealing rings and a very old wick. After disassembling, I wirebrushed two parts by hand, because they were very rusted and sooty, and I don’t wanna have that rust in my sandblasting cabinet later. I switched to the drill wirebrush to clean the brass parts. After that I started with polishing the tarnished brass parts to give them a nice shine! Offcam I drilled a new wick, I used a thin wire and twisted it, then I took some cotton line and wrapped it around the wire. The stoves brass nozzle got a wooden handle in a good condition. But I wanted to have it in a natural finish, so I put it in my drill and sanded down the old paint. After I reached a smooth finish by sanding the handle with a fine sanding paper, I used some natural wood oil to protect the wood. Then came my favorite part: sandblasting! I put the rusted metal parts in the sandblasting cabinet and enjoyed this satisfying process. The metal parts turned out nice, but I wanted to give them a nice wirebrushed finish, so I quickly wirebrushed them again. Before they can start rusting again, I took the parts in the kitchen, hit the brush and some linseed oil and tempered them for one hour by 250 degree Celsius. I repeated this tempering process three times. The stove parts turned out with a nice black and rustproof finish. All parts are restored now, time to bring this restoration to an end by reassembling. While doing that, I created my own Mister Patina Patch and put it on the stove. The final test of the rove was successful, the fire regulation works perfectly and I could cook some water in my new stove :-)
Thanks for watching!
