Cadet Pilot Program Group Activity on Gender Inequality in the Cockpit

At Golden Epaulettes Aviation, we’re on a mission to produce world-class pilots and build a more inclusive aviation industry. In our latest group discussion led by Captain Devin Soni, we addressed a vital issue — gender inequality in aviation. With women making up only 5–7% of pilots globally, it’s time to break barriers and challenge outdated stereotypes.

We discussed the long-held myths that women can’t handle pressure or emergencies, even though studies prove that women often excel in communication, multitasking, and leadership — all key skills in aviation. The conversation also focused on the importance of mentorship programs, scholarships, family support, and stronger policies to protect and empower women in the cockpit.

It’s time to normalize the term “pilot” without gender labels and create equal opportunities for all. Together, we can inspire and support the next generation of female aviators and ensure that the sky is open to everyone.
