The company just announced Midjourney Medical, and its first product is something nobody saw coming: a full-body Ultrasonic CT scanner. You step onto a platform, get slowly submerged in water, and half a million tiny sensors fire sound waves at your body—like being surrounded by 500,000 echolocating dolphins. The whole scan takes 60 seconds.

Compare that to an MRI: 60-90 minutes in a loud, claustrophobic tube.

Midjourney says the resulting 3D body map rivals MRI detail, built using ultrasound-on-chip tech licensed from Butterfly Network, an actual medical device company. In a twist that says a lot about how serious this is—founder David Holz says they're "not even using any AI in this yet."

Here's the wildest part: they're not launching this in a hospital. They're opening a 25,000-square-foot spa in San Francisco, with hot tubs, saunas, and cold plunges—where the scan is just a "side effect" of your visit.

The scanner isn't FDA-cleared for diagnostic use yet. Right now, it can only provide body composition data, not a diagnosis. Midjourney says it plans to pursue FDA clearance in stages. The spa itself isn't opening until 2027.
