Making The Trailer - The Craft 2: Nancy's Revenge - Episode 6

Hey guys, this is a new series I'm doing where I look back at my previous parody trailers, hoping to give you a little insight into the creative process.

I made this trailer at the end of 2018 whilst I was travelling through Colombia. This was one of my easiest videos to make, taking me approximately one month to piece this one together.

The reason I say it was an easy video was because the source material was strong, I had a clear narrative I wanted to create, and the video itself was never going to be a huge success (less pressure).

A few things I forgot to mention in this video.. I had about 3 extra scenes that I ended up cutting from the trailer. The first was a shot where Nancy invokes Manu after escaping the mental hospital. It was taken from a film where the actress who plays Nancy (Fairuska Balk) speaks to a deceased family member through a spiritual awakening. It tied in amazingly with the original trailer, but I cut it for pacing reasons.

I also had scenes where Sarah (Robin Tunney) was physically wrestling with Nancy but again, it didn't really fit into the finished product.

All of my videos are created using Adobe After Effects. This trailer in particular featured a lot of subtle scenes. From removing characters in the background, to overlaying photos (in the binder and picture frame scene), to creating entirely original shots (like the scene with nancy's legs in the window).

I hired a professional voice over guy for this video, (and also read the female news reader line myself with a pitched up effect).
