Australians should be ‘free to choose’ cash or card payment options

IPA Executive Director Daniel Wild says the reduction of cash use is a “matter of choice” for Australians.

Mr Wild told Sky News host Andrew Bolt that Australians should be “free to choose” if they want to use cash or card for their payments.

“It’s also just prudent, if the system goes down everything goes down.

“From a risk management perspective, you have to have cash as an option, as a fallback option.

“I share the view that we’ve got to keep cash in circulation in our economy.”
