The Danes and the Swedes have fought over Halmstad for centuries and although today it’s part of Sweden, you can still find clear evidence in the local gastronomy that it was once Danish. Tareq explores the contrast between the busy summer scene at the beach and the quiet rural country life, meeting Jörgen Persson: award-winning table tennis player and visiting a village famous for its cheese.

In this episode Tareq samples the best of new Scandinavian cooking when he visits a turkey farm, a kale farm and a dairy that makes Sweden's only cheddar cheese. He makes a Turkey Wallenbergare, Garlic Steak and Veal dance (Wapnö) and Cured Salmon and Kale on the beautiful beach of Halmstad.

We find out the secrets behind traditions, techniques and craftsmanship that exist within New Nordic Cuisine. We discover the hidden treasures and unique flavours of the Nordic countries while exploring uncharted territories. The show is set among beautiful scenery across Northern Europe, accentuated with visual stories of Tareq’s personal extreme sport adventures.
