I need to thank the guys at "The Fellowship of Acoustics" in the Netherlands for their permission to use the Martin Playing clips here. It was a last minute, post recording change, and they were quick to respond and completely cool about sharing the clips. Great guys and an amazing store. Check them out here:

This is the often requested short history of the Martin Dreadnought Guitar. As you all predicted, Martin overall was much too large for a 30 minute Short History so I decided to break it into a couple of pieces and as the Dreadnaught is by far the most popular acoustic guitar style in the world it was logical to start here.
You'll see that I bring us up to about 2004. I felt that it covered the history sufficiently with a few "modern" variants for interest, in other words, things I'd learned during the research that my 40 years of "guitaring" hadn't taught me along the way.
I apologize in advance for having left out your favorite model. It is inevitable when making the videos that this is necessary to make them fit, or almost fit in this case, into my self-prescribed 30 min time limit.
This was a fun one to do and I plan to do more acoustic companies in the coming year, while at the same time branching out from guitars a bit as well. So stay tuned, and thanks for coming along for the ride.
Thanks for watching.
Keith
