(This was the paint that we used in "Split Rail", and then just choose whatever darker paint color that you would like with it)

So we tried painting a couch… Yea, it is something that we had never heard of before until a few days ago. It sounded interesting enough, so we wanted to give it a shot ourselves. We wanted to do an oversized chair in case things went downhill then it would be a smaller surface to cover.
We came across a good deal for a chair that would have a really fun transformation, stopped by Home Depot for some paint and fabric softener, brought it all home, and we were on our way.
Just so you know, The recipe to do this if you want to is 1 cup of paint mixed with 3 tbsp. of your favorite fabric softener :) Mix it together and start painting. It's as easy as that! It took 4 coats to make it look really nice and ensure that the fabric was not showing through. We finished our faux leather effect by using another paint color that was a little darker mixed in with some water and rubbed that with a sponge around the edges to give it more dimension. One thing we didn’t do but that you could try is adding polyurethane after all your coats of paint OR applying a waterproof layer before you paint.
The end product didn’t look half bad! You could definitely tell that it wasn’t leather, but it is a usable chair for sure! The paint was really soft and stretchy to touch, not hard or crunchy at all! We didn’t feel comfortable selling it for money just because we don’t know how this DIY couch will hold up in the long run. Anyways, we posted it on Facebook for free and we got 5 messages within 20 minutes and someone was there that night to pick it up. So who knows! Maybe we could have gotten something more for it, but oh well! It turned out to be a fun lil project.
I still have a 9-5 job working from home as a salesman for a treadmill company. We are working towards financial freedom and we are hoping that by creating some side hustles it will pay off in some way and allow us to have the time freedom of working when we would like to. (Still a long ways away from that. We know lol)
We appreciate the support from you guys a ton, thank you so much for following along our journey, and we would love some ideas for future videos! (Comment below)
