1968 Mustang Ex vinyl roof car ,Can I stop the RUST ? What will I do ? Its worse than I thought :-(

I am back to my 1968 Mustang.
I painted this car the first time as a first year autobody apprentice in 1991.
Parked it around 1997 or so .
I took it out with the shop dealer plate in the early 2000s for a day drive , it has not been started since
It needs to be back on the road again ,I miss driving it .
It is not an actual restoration, but more of a rod restoration as the color is wrong and so are the wheels.
