Originally built during the time of Songtsen Gampo, Tibet’s first emperor, the temple once echoed with mantras and rituals. It shares its timeline with the famed Jokhang Temple, yet remains little known. In the 11th century, the monk Dalongtangba expanded it into the ancestral temple of the Dalong Ju-re spiritual lineage.
Today, Dalong Temple is a solitary stone sanctuary, surrounded by the waters of a high-altitude lake — accessible only to the determined. It whispers stories of devotion, dynasties, and the sacred silence of remote Tibet.
