Interview with Jane Elliott: Inspiring Activism Webinar

In this webinar presented by Institute for Child Development and Family Relations, Associate Director Dr. Kelly Campbell interviews Ms. Jane Elliott about efforts to fight racism now in 2020 and her lifetime of anti-racism activism.

Books Mentioned:
Beyond Racism by Whitney Young Jr.
On Tyranny by Timothy D. Snyder
National Geographic Issue: April 2018
The System by Robert B. Reich
C Street by Jeff Sharlet
The Family by Jeff Sharlet
The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander

In response to Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination, Jane Elliott devised the controversial and startling, “Blue Eyes/Brown Eyes” exercise. This now famous exercise labeled participants as inferior or superior based solely on the color of their eyes and exposed them to the experience of arbitrary discrimination. Everyone who has witnessed Jane Elliott’s lectures is dramatically affected. You can find out more about her work at: https://janeelliott.com/.
