Flight Review (BOARDING CHAOS) | New York-Athens (JFK-ATH) Delta Airlines (Economy) Airbus A330-300

What you can expect if you fly Delta Airlines economy class from New York JFK to Athens, Greece.

**GIVE YOURSELF AN HOUR LONGER THAN YOU USED TO BEFORE COVID FOR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS AT THE AIRPORT AS INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL IS DIFFERENT, MORE COMPLICATED, & FAST-CHANGING THAN IT WAS IN THE PRE-COVID TIMES**

*The boarding process for this flight was the most chaotic & disorganized I've ever experienced in my life, due to passengers not being told until right before boarding that we needed to check-in at the gate first to show them that we received a confirmation email from travel.gov.gr that we completed the health questionnaire Greece requires everyone to fill prior to entering the country (because of covid). This caused complete madness as there was only one person checking for this, people who lined up to board were thrown into a different & much longer line for this, and nobody was aware of this new, extra pre-boarding measure prior until the last-minute announcement. Even just adding this information to the check-in message on Delta's app would have saved a lot of hassle, since people would know to check-in at the gate when they arrive there, instead of when they're lining up to board the plane.

So if you're taking this flight, and likely any flight to Greece in the near-term, be aware of this & inquire at your gate about this with your travel.gov.gr confirmation email, so that you won't get caught up in the madness, should the ground grew not inform those on your flight about this until the last minute.

*Also be aware that JFK T4, where this flight originates, has a separate area for domestic and international flights when it comes to checking in your bags. The day I took this flight, signage was very poor & misleading in the Delta check-in section of JFK T4, as it only said "domestic only" above the full service desks, not the checked bag drop off desks. I found out after waiting in a long line to drop off my checked bag that "domestic only" applied to that whole side of the check-in area, not just the full service desks that said "domestic only" on their monitors, meaning I would have to wait in another long line on the other side of Delta's check-in area at JFK T4. Thankfully after raising a bit of a fuss over being thrown into another long line, they accommodated me anyway on the "domestic" side, and hopefully since then Delta has improved its check-in area at JFK airport.
Later on at the gate for this flight, several other passengers said they had this same problem at bag drop-off.
