AI BREAKS Texas — OpenAI’s $500 BILLION Grid CRISIS Stops Stargate COLD

OpenAI just hit a wall in Texas. And it wasn’t a
money problem. It wasn’t a chip problem. It was an
electricity problem.

In March 2026, the expansion of Stargate — OpenAI’s
$500 billion AI infrastructure flagship in Abilene,
Texas — was halted. The reason: the Texas power grid
cannot deliver enough electricity to keep up with
artificial intelligence.

226 gigawatts of data centre load requests now sit in
ERCOT’s queue. Texas’s all-time peak demand is 85.5
gigawatts. The companies lining up to plug in are
asking for 2.6 times more power than Texas has ever
used. 73% of those requests are from data centres.

This is the grid that came within 4 minutes and 37
seconds of total collapse in 2021. The grid that killed
246 Texans — and possibly as many as 978.

And it’s the only grid in America that operates
completely outside federal regulation.

This is the story of Stargate, ERCOT, and the moment
the future of artificial intelligence ran out of
electricity.

Red Alert Earth covers the disasters happening right
now — the ones the rest of the world isn’t watching.
