The second round of talks are ongoing here in Seoul on how much South Korea and the U.S. will each pay to keep the American troops stationed in South Korea.
Will there be progress that satisfies both sides' interests?

Why do the cost-sharing talks matter?

2. The two sides reportedly focused on the details of the cost-sharing --for instance if a raise should be based on the inflation rate or an increase in their military budgets.
How do these serve as a barometer for determining the cost?

3. How much of a raise then will be appropriate and acceptable for both sides?
4. The reason the talks are taking place earlier than usual this time is that both Seoul and Washington are mindful of the November presidential election, when former president Donald Trump may make a comeback to the White House.
What's your take on this?
5. Some watchers say Trump may ditch the 2026 deal if he does get re-elected.
Is that a possible scenario?
Will he be able to do that when elected?
