Rep. Jim Jordan has announced plans to seek a third vote on his nomination for Speaker of the House. The decision comes in spite of a poor showing in his second ballot -- in which Jordan garnered lost the support of two more Republicans than he did in the first -- with no clear sign of any movement from his detractors. So, the House heads into third week without a Speaker of the House, as war rages in the Middle East and Ukraine and the U.S. government heads closer to a shutdown. Thomas B. Edsall, an opinion columnist for The New York Times, joined Gautam Mukunda to weigh in.

Then, Israel has ordered one million residents of Gaza — half the population — to evacuate Northern Gaza ahead of an imminent ground invasion. As many Palestinians struggle to flee, the prospect of all-out war on the 140-square mile strip — an area as densely populated than New York City — is inching closer to reality. Retired Army Special Forces Col. Liam Collins, the founding director of the Modern War Institute at West Point, joined Gautam to discuss the challenges of urban war and the scale of destruction we can expect from an invasion.
