Non-Surgical Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) Closure for Premature Babies

Recent innovations in pediatric cardiology allow interventional cardiologists to perform patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure on premature infants and babies through cardiac catheterization instead of open heart surgery. Using the Piccolo device from Abbott Labs, recently approved by the FDA, we can offer families a less invasive treatment than PDA closure surgery. Children’s Hospital Colorado is the only hospital in the region performing this cutting edge procedure.
