On Britain's poverty frontline

More than a third of youngsters in parts of Hyndburn are living below the poverty line, a shocking new report has claimed.

Research carried out by the Campaign to End Child Poverty claims 39 per cent of children in Spring Hill in Accrington are living below the breadline.

But just two miles away in both Baxenden and St Oswald’s wards the figure fall to just six per cent, the report claims.

Other areas with high levels of child poverty in Hyndburn include Church with 37 per cent and the Central ward with 36 per cent.
