Back to School with No Teachers? Dysfunction and Crisis of US Schools

More than half a million teachers have left teaching in the last 1.5 years. Now kids are heading back to school, but will there be anyone there to teach? Nathalie Hrizi, public schools teacher librarian and Vice President of Substitutes with United Educators of San Francisco, explains the roots of the shortage and the urgent demands that teachers, parents, and communities have to fix this crisis.

Media commentator Daria Dugina, daughter of right-wing Russian political figure Aleksandr Dugin, died earlier this week in a car bomb. In reporting about the incident, Western media is heavily using the nickname “Putin's brain” for Aleksandr Dugin, despite that the Russian leader has distanced himself from Dugin. Jared Ball, professor of communication studies at Morgan State University and the author of The Myth and Propaganda of Black Buying Power, discusses the significance of the month and the disparities with which Black political prisoners are treated.
