Attack Theatre - Some Assembly Required: Assemble This

This work sample includes excerpts of a multi-site performance series for 10 performances in five different art galleries/museums throughout Pittsburgh in a period of two weeks. Some Assembly Required is a hallmark of Attack Theatre’s philosophy of interdisciplinary collaboration, improvisation, and audience engagement.

This process begins with a short performance to an original score composed by Dave Eggar and performed by cellist Dave Eggar and percussionist Chuck Palmer. The process/performance evolves through a lively, guided conversation about selected works of art which inform improvisational movement and music that are layered into a final performance for each new audience, venue, and work of art. Some Assembly Required culminates in a world-premiere performance that connects artists with audience and artwork in an intimate exploration between the planned and spontaneous. Some Assembly Required demonstrates the extensive history of Attack Theatre’s collaborative relationship with Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer; and provides a glimpse into their shared dance/music creative process. Choreographers Peter Kope and Michele de la Reza will collaborate with Dave Eggar and Chuck Palmer in the creation of new work for the upcoming season.
