What's up with the Sinosphere?

What on earth is the Sinosphere aka Greater China? What's up with the bizarre political divisions between China and it's neighbors of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan? Why do both the mainland and Taiwan claim to be the sole legitimate government of all of China?

In today's video we're going to be discussing some of the history of China and the modern events that led up to it's current precarious position, and the complicated political situation that has arisen as a result of decades of conflict. We're also going to be discussing the other nations and territories outside of mainland China and Taiwan that have a majority Chinese-descended population.
