El Camino College Cloud Computing

El Camino College students will have access to classes next fall that will lead to a new cloud computing certificate through a new partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Part of the California Cloud Workforce Project, or CA Cloud, the program collaborates with AWS and its AWS Educate program to offer a regionally recognized cloud computing certificate. New computer information systems faculty member Khai Lu attended the AWS training and will develop the curriculum. ECC is one of 19 Los Angeles-area community colleges and high school partners to join this program that offers students access to a 15-credit certificate program that focuses on in-demand cloud computing skills. As part of this initiative, El Camino College will partner with area high schools to offer concurrent enrollment in the certificate program. Students will receive additional support, such as professional development opportunities, curriculum development workshops and AWS training. Plans are in place to develop an associate degree program as well.
