In commemoration of Birgt Nilsson's 100th birthday, let us hear something really great, but which unfortunately is not usually associated with her immense artistic legacy: her delicate but nonetheless amazingly powerful Amelia in Giuseppe Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera. In my opinion it was one of her great roles. This excerpt comes from a live performance with Richard Tucker as Riccardo in New York, 1963. I tried to clean and improve the sound quality a bit. Enjoy the artistry of this complete musician and unsurpassable voice.
