"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving. Set in 1790, the secluded glen of Sleepy Hollow is renowned for its ghosts, goblins and moody atmosphere. Ichabod Crane, a schoolmaster competes with the town rowdy for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel, daughter of wealthy farmer Baltus Van Tassel. Making matters even more complicated, the town is haunted by the infamous spectre known as the Headless Horseman, the ghost of a Hessian trooper, who's head had been shot off by a stray cannonball during a battle of the Revolution... A perfect bedtime story to fall asleep to.
