Building an Off-Grid Bathroom From Scratch | Plumbing, Framing & Layout (Part 1)

This week at the off-grid cabin, I finally start the bathroom build from the ground up.

In this first episode, I lay out the entire space — figuring out exactly where everything needs to go before closing in the walls. I install all the blocking for fixtures like the shower curtain rod, towel hangers, mirror, vanity, and more so everything is solid and properly supported.

From there, I build a bulkhead to deal with the roofline transition from the original cabin into the new addition, then move into plumbing. I rough in all the lines for the toilet, vanity, and shower system — including a floor-mounted tub faucet and a ceiling-mounted rainfall shower head.

Once everything is run, I cap off all the wall connections so it's ready for drywall, then pressure test the system by tying into the main water line.

No leaks. Always a good day.
