Why Diesel Engines Don't Use Spark Plugs 🔥

How diesel engines work without spark plugs and why compression
alone can light fuel. Your diesel truck ignites its fuel through
brute-force physics, not electricity. No spark plugs, no ignition
coil, no electrical system at the combustion chamber.

Diesel engines crush air to roughly 23 times normal atmospheric
pressure inside the cylinder. That extreme compression heats the air
hotter than a campfire well above the autoignition temperature of
diesel fuel. When fuel is injected at the top of the compression
stroke, it lights instantly on contact with the superheated air.
This is called compression ignition, and it's the fundamental
difference between diesel and gasoline engines.

Diesel engine compression ratio, how compression ignition works, why
diesel trucks don't have spark plugs, and the physics behind diesel
combustion explained.
