Co-directors André Abdala and Salomão Abdala discuss the making of 2DIE4, a documentary-driven racing film centered around professional driver Felipe Nasr and the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Blending documentary realism with cinematic language, the Abdala Brothers set out to capture an authentic racing experience with a small, agile crew and a deeply collaborative approach. Drawing inspiration from films like Oppenheimer, they worked closely with Panavision to develop a visual language that could bring audiences inside the emotional and physical intensity of endurance racing.

From large format lenses to handheld multi-camera setups, the filmmakers share how they balanced intimacy and scale — crafting distinct visual approaches for character-driven moments and high-speed action. With a crew of just seven, each operator became both cinematographer and storyteller, capturing the race from multiple perspectives in real time.
