Female Cardinal Defends the Feeder! House Sparrows Don’t Stand a Chance

Things got intense at the feeder today! A female Northern Cardinal showed up and wasn’t about to share with the neighborhood house sparrows. 🐦

Captured on my backyard bird camera, this determined cardinal stood her ground and chased off the sparrows to claim the feeder for herself. While the bright red male cardinals usually get the attention, the females can be just as bold when it comes to protecting their food!

My feeder camera records all the daily wildlife activity in my yard, including cardinals, blue jays, mourning doves, and even the occasional mischievous squirrel trying to sneak a snack.
