DeSantis Pushes Cursive Comeback in Florida Schools

Florida is bringing cursive writing back to the classroom.

A new law backed by Governor Ron DeSantis will require public schools to teach cursive to students in grades 3 through 5. By the end of elementary school, kids must be able to read and write in cursive — something Florida stopped requiring back in 2010.

In this conversation, we break down what the new law includes, why it’s making a comeback, and whether skills like typing might be more important for students today. Plus, we put our own handwriting to the test… and let’s just say, it didn’t go exactly as planned.

Do you think cursive should still be taught in schools, or is it outdated? Let us know in the comments.
