I used a thrifted Ikea Hemnes unit and stacked a Kallax unit to create this faux built-in storage wall. I love how this has turned out and I have created more storage space for my office/craft room. I purchased my Benjamin Moore paint from MRCB Paints and Paper in Dublin. I was able to get quick home delivery.

Here are some more details on the products I used: I am using the INSL-X Waterborne primer to prime the Ikea pieces. This primer bonds to hard-to-coat surfaces. A perfect primer for painting Ikea furniture that can be harder to paint.

Make sure to allow the primer to fully dry before applying your topcoat. I am using the Benjamin Moore ADVANCE paint as my topcoat for the Ikea units. The ADVANCE paint is designed especially for painting interior furniture pieces. It is super smooth and dries with a finish that looks like it came direct from the furniture manufacturer. It is perfect for painting cabinets and other furniture pieces in your home. I was impressed with the coverage of the paint. I ordered too much of the topcoat, so a quarter can is loads for this project. I applied two coats of the Pale Oak topcoat to the piece. Make sure to allow for enough drying time between applications.
This paint has amazing coverage.

The ADVANCE paint cures to a hard, furniture quality finish, so no need to apply varnish on top. The base of this Ikea hack is a Hemnes sideboard. I then stacked the Kallax units on top. ENSURE TO SECURE TO THE WALL.
This created the base for my faux built-in storage wall.
