Forged Ice Pick - Short Fire Poker - Blacksmithing Beginner Project

I've always wanted to forge an Ice Pick/Short Fire Poker. So this week, that's what I did.

I used mild steel for this one, started by forging a long taper, make this square taper octogonal first then round, twisted the square stock, then forged another short taper on the other end and forged a hook.

It's a very simple project but you'll need to know a few techniques to do it right. I learnt all this techniques with Rory May aka The Dirty Smith during his class in New York last October and with my friend Steve from Moonshine Metalworks.
