Banded Owl Butterfly Exposes Showy Topside in Panama | July 21, 2025

It's not just birds that visit the feeders in Panama! Butterflies abound, but often they don't stop for long enough to get a nice view. This Banded Owl butterfly took a moment to enjoy some citrus from the feeding platform at Canopy Lodge, and even flashed its beautiful blue-accented wingtops toward the camera as we watched. These butterflies are common residents of the forests around Canopy Lodge and are often seen flying within the cam's view.
