Turbulence in NS Forestry: Fixing the Things We Can Control

The 2026 Western Woodland Conference was held on Saturday, April 11th at St. Mary's Bay Academy in Weymouth, Nova Scotia.

The Woodland Conferences are organized annually by a hardworking committee of representatives from several Nova Scotia groups interested in forestry. This year, our provincial committee included partners from the Nova Scotia Department of Resources, Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners and Operators Association (Provincial Coordinator), Association for Sustainable Forestry, Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute, Nova Scotia Community College, Forest Nova Scotia, Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq, and several private woodlot owners. Additional Western regional partners included the Medway Community Forest Co-op and Western Woodlot Services Co-op.
