Remoticon: Opener / The Politics of Engineering: Kipp Bradford

Kipp Bradford, is an engineering researcher and the CTO of Treau, Inc., a startup developing high-efficiency heat pump systems. Previously, he was a Research Scientist and faculty at the Yale University School of Architecture. Kipp worked for several years at the MIT Media Lab as a senior Research Scientist, hired as a result of the “Professor of Other” faculty search for an interdisciplinary scientist. His research is extremely relevant right now, merging biology, ecology, and thermodynamics to develop new ways to manage climates at every scale—from personal thermal comfort up to global weather systems.
He is the founder of Revolution By Design, a non-profit education and research organization dedicated to empowerment through technology, and of the Innovation Institute, an NSF-funded project that taught technology innovation to underserved youth in New York City. He joins us today to discuss how the things we make impact the lives of people and have effects that ripple through society. We were honored to have Kipp as a Hackaday Prize judge in 2017 and 2018
