Tensions at the US-Mexico border escalate as US military reinforces barbed wire fencing along the border with Ciudad Juarez on May 5. This comes as Mexican President reiterated her rejection of Trump’s offer to send troops to combat drug trafficking in Mexico. Sheinbaum’s comments came after a Wall Street Journal report on Trump’s pressure for deeper US military involvement against drug cartels. “No, President Trump, no…sovereignty is not for sale” Sheinbaum’s bold reply to Trump’s offer. Earlier, Trump has warned of unilateral US military action if Mexico fails to dismantle the drug cartels.
