Rammstein - Deutschland - Instrumental Cover
I finally got around to building on the drum cover and keyboard cover I did of this song on my CrappyAssDrummer channel and did the guitars and bass too. Well, redid them, since the drum cover had an instrumental backing, but I didn’t record video, so I did it again when Matt complained he wanted to see the guitars :-)
For a description of the drums, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7FOhqSSuUU

Urban Camo guitar: A Radix Saint, an Indonesian guitar with Tesla active pickups. The reason I chose it is because of the drop C tuning (CGCFAD - so I could just barre the power chords, like the band does). On a normal guitar with normal strings, drop C makes the strings like spaghetti, flopping around all over. So, since I don’t care what happens to this guitar as it’s kind of a piece of crap, I strung it with 12-62 strings and redid the intonation to get the low sound with some decent string tension. I think it worked quite well, although it bent the neck quite a bit. This guitar’s part is actually doubled, although I only put one of me in the video. One is through “Pure Rammfire A” and the other through “Pure Rammfire C”, both on Guitar Rig’s “Rammfire” add-on package.
Grey/Black guitar: A Jackson DKMG, with active EMG pickups, also tuned drop C (CGCFAD), although in reality I only re-tuned the high E since it was the only one I needed to use. Guitar Rig’s Rammfire, with the “Chorus Rammfire Pro” setting. Hard to play cleanly. Took me a million takes!
Bass: Is a cheap but pretty Cort Action, with replacement Dimarzio DP126 P/J pickups, although only the P is on here. Tuned to DADG. Played straight into a Roland Rubix 22 audio interface and into the computer (as were the guitars, come to think of it). Then I used Guitar Rig’s “Precise Bottom” sound. Yes, I’m playing with a pick. The bassist in Rammstein has gone back and forth between picks on stage and in studio over the years, so I chose what’s easiest for me!
Sound recorded and mixed on Cakewalk Sonar X3. Video recorded on a Sony FDR-X3000, and added to the music on Sony Vegas, which was well worth the 50 bucks.
