That creepy background sound isn't a sci-fi soundtrack — it's real data from NASA’s Parker Solar Probe. What you’re hearing is the solar wind: streams of charged particles blown out from the Sun at incredible speeds. ☀️💨

These haunting tones come from plasma waves picked up by the probe:

👻 Langmuir Waves – crackling electric whispers
🌪️ Whistler Mode Waves – like a solar storm screaming by
🐦 Dispersive Chirping Waves – yeah… space birds?

You wouldn't hear it with just your ear, though. Space doesn't transmit sound the way Earth's atmosphere does. But instruments on the probe can listen for the electrical and magnetic fluctuations caused by plasma waves, record frequency and amplitude information about those plasma waves – and when scientists convert them to sound... well, just listen.
